In the Beginning...
In the Beginning...

Genesis chapter one, verse one says: “In the beginning”. That sort of says it all. It tells you there was nothing before. It tells you new things are starting. “In the beginning”. That phrase offers hope. The connotations are so plentiful that they are unfathomable; “In the beginning”.
My pastor asked our congregation one time what the first creation was. Everyone said “light”. He disagreed. He said it was time. “In the beginning” is a statement of time.
I spent the day thinking about “In the beginning.”
People get excited about starting new things, relationships, jobs, marriages, pregnancies, seasons and so on…. In the beginning. It negates the old, gives opportunity to start fresh.
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” I don’t care how you think it all got started or got here, it did.”In the beginning”. I don’t think it is worth arguing about. If we were all as smart as we think we are we would know the truth of the whole “In the beginning” but we don’t. He does and He didn’t feel it necessary to share every detail. We wouldn’t understand anyway. "In the beginning."
“Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.”
Before I found Christ I was formless and empty. Darkness covered my every thought and action. God was hovering around me drawing me. Circumstances were drawing me.
What condition are you in? Is darkness swirling around your life? Does your life seem to be without purpose? Do circumstances have you enveloped in a hopeless path? Do you see any light ahead? Is happiness just a fleeting thought without relevance to your normal everyday existence?
“God said Let there be light, and there was light.” Jesus was the light of the world. He came to eradicate the darkness and void in your life. Have you allowed that light into your life? There is hope there.
"In the beginning." You have the opportunity to come out of the darkness; you have the opportunity to illuminate the hope and dreams that are deep within you.
God is hovering, waiting, drawing, wooing, wanting you.
It is easy.
Just ask.
